Mandated Reporting Policy

As a Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), I am a mandated reporter under state law. This means that while all information shared during consultation sessions is kept private and protected under HIPAA, there are specific situations where I am legally required to report information to the appropriate authorities.

If there is reason to suspect abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a child, elder, or vulnerable individual, I am obligated to file a report with the Virginia Department of Social Services or other relevant agency, as required by law. These situations are rare but are taken seriously to ensure the safety and well-being of those involved.

Aside from these mandated exceptions, all client information remains strictly confidential and is used only for the purposes of consultation and professional recordkeeping as outlined in the HIPAA Privacy Policy.
